Coconut & Lime Scrub

Coconut Lime Scrub | The Inspired Little Pot

Scrubs are so simple to make, and great for beginner body-care-product-makers! Try making this scrub, package it in a pretty jar, and gift it to someone you love.

Makes 340g 

INGREDIENTS (links provided for ingredients available here at The Inspired Little Pot)

1 lime – zest only (pantry item/market/supermarket)

20g shredded/desiccated coconut (pantry item/market/supermarket)

60g coconut oil (pantry item/market/supermarket)

250g sugar – raw, caster, coconut (pantry item/market/supermarket)

10-15 drops lime essential oil

METHOD

  1. Zest lime and add to a bowl with desiccated coconut and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, melt coconut oil, either in a double boiler or by briefly microwaving on low.
  3. Combine melted coconut oil with dry ingredients and essential oil (if using), and stir until mixture is well combined.
  4. Transfer to a container or jar.

THERMAL APPLIANCE METHOD

  1. Add shredded coconut and lime zest to bowl and blitz for 20 sec on high speed until fine in consistency.
  2. Add coconut oil and melt for 60 sec, approximately 60 degrees, low speed.
  3. Add sugar and essential oil (if using), and mix for 10 sec until well combined.
  4. Transfer to a container or jar.

TO USE

  • Use in shower on wet skin. Massage in a circular motion on entire body.
  • Store away from direct sunlight.

RECIPE NOTES

  • Be careful in your shower or bath and this scrub may leave your tiles or tub a little slippery.
  • Designed to be quite a dry scrub. Feel free to add more coconut oil if you prefer.
  • Lime can be substituted for lemon, orange, grapefruit zest.
  • Recipe may be halved.
